SupaWall Open Day

Maple held a SupaWall open day on Sunday 3 February near Droitwich.  The design is a modern day replica of the original subsiding property (albeit slightly larger).

Prospective clients flocked from nearby towns in response to a small mailshot from Maple’s offices.  Our clients were on site and hands on, generously assisting our sales staff with the flurries of questions.

All feedback was positive and it gave prospective clients a fantastic opportunity to view our building system, and learn more about renewables and modern methods of construction.

Press Release

Hackney Borough Council

Hackney are the first Council to promote timber frame construction in its planning policy. The Council hosted a wood first conference for Architects and Developers to encourage “wood for good” as a prime building material a campaign to promote suitability along with sustainability.

Guy Nicholson, Cabinet Minister for regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics games said: Timber construction is changing the face of sustainable development, with the industry increasingly recognizing the aesthetic and environmental benefits of using wood in new developments.

Soon all new homes will be constructed this way.

SupaHome

Advanced Panel System

Are you wasting money on heating your house??

The graph shows the calculated monthly energy requirements for space heating for our standard Millburn House design.

Based on a specification using the backstop values defined in current Building Regulations the total calculated energy requirement per annum would be 10764 kWh.  Based on a SupaHome specification the total calculated energy requirement per annum would be 3418 kWh

If you are looking to build your dream home why build to Building Regulation specification when you could build using the SupaHome advanced panel system and save on heating costs year on year!!

If you want a SupaHome please email your drawings to enquiry@mapletimberframe.com quoting reference "SupaHome"

SupaHome

Maple Timber Frame has recently completed a SupaHome project in Hertfordshire for one of its regular clients.  The developer welcomed the wall, floor and roof package as a solution for his most recent build.

The fantastic u-values and planning/building regulation packages have been an attraction for him for the past one and a half decades and the introduction of Maple’s SupaHome proved to be an option he simply could not refuse.  With faster build times and greater air tightness,

Maple Timber Frame are finding that more and more clients are now opting for SupaHome, the next generation in house building.

New Build Switzerland

Maple was approached by Mr. Graham who was looking to build a low carbon sustainable timber framed home, after researching various local Swiss companies presenting them with drawings for quotations the conclusion was they wanted crazy prices!!!!

Recommended by relatives who had previously engaged Maple to build their home our client ascertained a British company could be the answer they were looking for. Visiting the factory to familiarise themselves with our construction leading too in depth chats on Swiss building law.

Mr. Graham opted for a low carbon solution consisting of Supawall and Suparoof the ideal build for the extreme weather conditions in Switzerland.

The new build will be delivered and erected in Spring 2013

Companionship in Building.

When we first approached Maple, the replies came quickly and were clearly stated. We thought that this might have been more their 'selling' pitch, but it seemed simple and strong. We decided to jump, and the choice fell on Maple because of its price, the image of quality it portrayed though the works contained in its website and the precise answers that we received. We also looked at independent customer reviews on the web. After we ordered the timberframe we experienced unforeseen issues, which had nothing to do with Maple.

The commercial team at Maple never insisted, never sent a word out of tone. On the contrary, it only communicated sporadically to confirm that our order was there on standby. Then, the planning began; we had questions, changes, more changes and variations. Oh, and more changes. The technical team, the engineers, have been outstanding. In no time they'd come up with the solution that would satisfy our request or clear our doubt. No issue ever became a problem, everything was extremely professionally managed in no time, with new calculations and plans being drafted, explained and communicated. The commercial and technical teams at Maple were always, patiently, there.

Then, after exactly the time that had been forecasted, came the time for the erection of the frame; two weeks, and a two storey house with a reinforced roof was in place. No delay, no hassle, no worry. All perfect, thanks to an outstanding erection team and a flawless assembly. Maple's teams worked well with the builder's team, with the architect and everyone else concerned, never hesitating in providing availability and extra support in terms of solutions. All this, at a fair price. In our experience we have been very happy with Maple and wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone wishing to build or have a timberframe house.

Open Day

Maple Timber Frame recently held an open day at a site in Hertfordshire.  The dwelling has been constructed using SupaWall, SupaFloor and SupaRoof to give a highly insulated envelope to the building and as such the client is not intending to install either wet under floor heating or traditional radiators.

The dwelling is being heated by a log burner and a heat recovery ventilation system to maintain a constant air flow of either cool or warm air.

The open day was very well attended and the client was on hand all day to discuss the services provided by Maple and also his plans for the remainder of the build.  Due to the success of this open day we are intending to hold another at this site at the end of November.

Self Builder

Originally from the North East of England, I moved to the Isle of Man in 1996 to secure employment and to enjoy a more relaxed quality of life. My wife Celina and I, had often discussed the possibility of a self-build project with the prime purpose of creating something contemporary and bespoke. The opportunity came when we found a dilapidated bungalow in a prime location on Onchan Head.

Celina and I employed the services of local Architect Sam Samson, from Samson Designs, to put our ideas and sketches into a technical format. Following 12 months of planning ‘challenges’ we engaged Maple Timber Frame (MTF) to work with us and Sam, to create the physical structure of the new property. We were extremely grateful of MTF’s input at this stage as, due to the location of the property (Sea Front and high wind zone) it would require extra strengthening (wind bracing and steel work) and more careful design. We also decided to increase the external stud size and upgrade to MTF’s ‘Ecopack’ system… which was definitely the best option as our house retains the heat extremely well saving on fuel bills, in fact, we rarely have the heating on outside of the winter months.

So, in February 2008 MTF delivered, erected and quality checked the frame (see picture) in readiness for the remainder of the build. Jason Hartley from MTF acted as our Account Manager throughout the process and was extremely helpful, organising everything from their end and providing advice to both myself and my team of builders on product specifications etc. This was our first self-build and I have often been asked whether I enjoyed it and would I do the same again? I don’t know if I will be lucky enough to build another property, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the whole process – if you throw yourself into it and plan carefully it should be a very pleasurable and rewarding experience!

Looking back now (2012) we were very lucky to choose an experienced and knowledgeable company to support and deliver our project and I would not hesitate in either recommending or re-using Maple Timber Frame for a self-build.

Scott and Celina Bradley, Onchan, Isle of Man.

Development

Maple Timber Frame has secured further contracts in the Lake District with a leading Lakeland developer.

The developer has a reputation for providing top specification housing throughout the area and has ordered two more bespoke SupaWall packages.

This prestigious development was designed by a Lakeland specialist architect and the last time all three parties worked together, the development won an LABC Building Excellence Award.

Self Builder

Like many others, we always had this dream of building our own home. My parents had looked at this option many years ago but unfortunately their planning application was unsuccessful. They had approached Maple Timber Frame at the time and were very impressed with their service, so it seemed a logical choice to see what they had to offer when we were granted planning on a piece of land that used to form part of our garden.

From the outset, Graeme and the team were 110% dedicated to helping us see our dream through from start to finish. As a ‘maiden self-builder’, we were on the phone numerous times, with questions about this and that but everyone we spoke to was professional and just so helpful, it was amazing.

We started our build in the spring of 2010 and completed it in the autumn. The whole process was a very steep learning curve (and isn’t for the fainthearted!) but was well worth it. Yes there were stressful days but coupled with the very good days, I am pleased to report that we are still sane! And, contemplating doing another one! Of course it goes without saying, that Maple will be doing this for us too.

Are you dreading your winter fuel bills?  How expensive were your fuel bills last winter?  Do you remember the burst pipes and desecrated road surfaces?

Chris Martin of Churchtown, Lancashire, has no such worries.  Last year, his electricity and gas bills for the entire year totalled only £500.  He combined solar hot water, heat recovery ventilation, low u-value windows, a wood burning stove and low energy light bulbs with his SupaWall timber frame package from Maple Timber Frame.  Maple Timber Frame's 'fabric first' approach means that the 0.11 u-value SupaWall package is a vital component in driving down fuel bills and 'future proofing' your home.

For more information on SupaWall, please call our dedicated sales team on 01995 679444.

"We selected a timber frame supplier with the best insulated panels, for the best price and a company that we felt we could work with, and Maple produces the SupaWall system.

We have a good working relationship with Maple's sales team and they have their own 'standard designs' but almost any design is possible.

The erection team arrived on site the day promised and advised what was needed for their site team, so there were no surprises for either party.

We are very pleased with the finished result and the SupaWall system."
